Dexterous hand price index: Q4 2026 baseline

A quarterly, source-logged price panel for dexterous robot hands. The Q4 2026 edition is a baseline: sample frame, field schema and dated observations. No index number.

The short version

This is the baseline for a quarterly price panel, not an index. With one observation date, an unstable channel mix and several quote-only models in the frame, a single index value would be invented rather than measured. What is published is the frame, the schema and nine dated observations.

Why there is no index number

An index needs at least two comparable periods and a stable set of models and channels. This market has neither yet. One model appears at four prices in a single month, several models publish nothing, and the channel mix shifts whenever a dealer changes a page. A weighted average across that data would produce a number that moves for reasons unrelated to price.

So the panel publishes the observations and the rules, and it will keep doing that until there are four consecutive quarters with a stable frame. At that point a median-of-ratios index becomes defensible, and it will ship with the full observation table attached so anyone can check the arithmetic.

The panel schema

Each observation carries nine fields. A row without a source and a date is not a row.

Q4 2026 observations

Nine rows, captured on 5 November 2026. Ranges stay ranges. Where two sources disagree by more than 15%, the row is graded B and both numbers appear.

What the panel already shows

  • The observed range runs from $2,066 to about $110,000, a 53× spread. Any single "average hand price" is meaningless at this dispersion.
  • Domestic Chinese prices and export prices for the same model differ by roughly 1.4× to 3×. That gap is channel structure, not currency.
  • Two of the ten models in the index have no public price at all. Quote-only is a category, not a gap in our research.
  • The lowest-priced hand with a published export price is $2,299. The lowest domestic Chinese price is 3,900 RMB, and that figure is post-promotion.

Update rules

  1. Append a new dated observation. Never edit an existing row. If a source disappears, mark the row superseded and leave it visible.
  2. Re-check every in-frame model each quarter, including the quote-only ones. A model that starts publishing a price is an event.
  3. Only after four consecutive quarters with a stable panel will a median-of-ratios index be published, and only with the observation table attached.
  4. Update the version, observation date and next scheduled date every time. The current version is v0.1.

What is not verified

Open fields
  • EU, UK, Japan and Australia channels: no attributable public listing found, so those cells stay empty. Empty means not collected, not zero.
  • MOQ, lead time, warranty term, shipping and duty treatment are outside this panel and belong to the procurement layer.
  • The panel has one observation date. It cannot show change yet.

Questions

Why is there no index number?

An index needs at least two comparable periods and a stable panel. There is one observation date and several models have no public price, so a number now would be fabricated.

How often does this update?

Once a quarter, in the first month. Every observation is appended with its date; old rows are never overwritten.

Can I reuse the data?

Yes, with attribution and the evidence tier attached. The panel is built from public sources only.
